A Barragán-inspired modernist interior with planes of rosa mexicano, ochre and a still reflecting pool
Guardia Designs · Phoenix, Arizona · Mexico City

Modernism.
Mexican soul.

Warm, refined interiors and landscapes shaped by the meeting of modern Mexican craft and Arizona desert minimalism. Architecture first. Material honest. Color as a held breath.

The Philosophy

"We do not decorate. We compose — planes of color, shafts of light, the honest weight of stone. A room is architecture, or it is nothing."

— Raquel Guardia, Founder

Tierra
Curada.

A design language coined by Guardia Designs: the modernism of Mexico and the restraint of the Arizona desert — held together by a single rule. Everything earns its place.

Clean lines. Handcrafted material. Abundant light. And the desert's restraint — when a room asks for color, a single held plane of cochineal or indigo, never ornament for its own sake.

A Signature Sensibility

AriMexico

Modern Mexican warmth held against Arizona desert minimalism. Warm modern interiors shaped by desert light — layered neutrals, natural textures, and sculptural calm.

Not a style to apply, but a way of seeing: limewash plaster and travertine, mesquite and oak, hand-fired clay and linen — honest materials that age well and admit what they are. Restrained luxury, rooted in place.

The Curator

Raquel
Guardia

for people who collect, not decorate

Raquel designs for a particular client — one who has spent years acquiring taste, who knows a Zapotec weave on sight, who returns from Oaxaca with something extraordinary and no idea where to put it. They are not looking for a room. They are looking for someone who understands what they have, and knows how to let it breathe.

Her eye was formed along a single corridor: the artisan workshops of Oaxaca and Chihuahua, where hand-carved mesquite and volcanic stone are treated as architecture — and the mineral restraint of the Sonoran Desert, where adobe, sandstone, and raw clay shape a language of honest material. From this she coined Tierra Curada.

What she offers is access — to makers, to provenance, to bespoke furniture and objects that don't exist in any trade showroom. And delivery that honors what she has sourced: every piece arrives white glove, installed, positioned, ready to live with. Everything arrives in context.

Raquel travels to source at origin — Oaxaca, Chihuahua, Sonora — selecting material and makers.

III

Composition

Planes, light, and object are composed into a single architectural intention. Nothing is added that does not earn its place.

IV

Installation

The New Book

AriMexico.

A design monograph tracing the language Raquel Guardia coined — where the modernism of Mexican craft meets the restraint of the Sonoran Desert.

Fusion of modern Mexican architectural texture and Arizona desert minimalism. Through materials, palettes, and the rooms that taught her how to compose, the book maps an architectural fusion of handcrafted texture and desert-quiet minimalism.
